Byrd's Chapel United Methodist Church

Reaching, teaching, and serving others for Jesus Christ

Missionaries and Ministries

What is Quench Ministry? It is our new ladies group here at Byrd's Chapel! Why Quench Ministry? It is our heart to reach out to one another and to our community. Quench signifies our thirst for friendships, Christian fellowship, prayer, God's word, praise, thanks giving, helping others, and being the disciples that God has called us to be.

Quench Ministries will meet at 5:30 pm the fourth Thursday of every month. Every third month we will have a potluck dinner. Each time we meet someone will give a little devotional, we will pray together, share together, and love together. Our time together will strengthen our friendship with one another, our community, and God.

We have chosen to be "missionaries" to the homebound in our community. We want to help them in whatever way they may need a blessing. The homebound and their families may need food, friendship, conversation, prayer, or help around the house. Each lady will help according to their ability, time, and calling. In order to help our homebound we want to give them needed food, friendship, prayer, and lots of love. We want to be able to help in any way we can. In order to help we will be holding food drives, bake sales, and other creative ways to raise funds to help buy food (i.e. eggs, milk, bread) or give monetary support (i.e. need help paying electric bill).

We are all very excited about our new ministry and welcome any and every woman to come join us in service, friendship, and fellowship!

 What is Ignite?

Ignite is a youth group for children at Byrd's Chapel and our local communigty. Ignite is a time for our children to get together to celebrate their friendship with one another and with the Trinity of God. It is a time of worship and praise. We pray together, love together, and learn together. We learn who we are in Christ, who God is, and how much he adores us! We learn how to grow in God's word, the Holy Bible. We learn how to be more like Jesus in our attitudes and actions. Ignite is a time for Christian youth to come together to enjoy companionship with other believers and lovers of God.  The world pulls at our youth and takes them in many directions. Ignite is here to help keep our youth centered on The truth of God's Word and the importance of standing strong in their faith no matter what may come their way in life.

Ignite is also a place for youth who may not know God to come and learn about him. It is a time for them to discover God's love and mercy. It is a place for them to discover His forgiveness and grace. Ignite is a place where youth can come to find acceptance, love, forgiveness, and healing.

Ignite is a place where our youth can come to learn that God is fun! They learn that God has rules and expectations, but he is fair and just. They learn God does not expect us to be perfect, but he does expect us to try our best to follow his commands. God is not all work and no play. He loves to laugh and laughs with us! We are all a part of the body of Christ and we all have a part to play in God's kingdom.

During Ignite we play games, eat snacks, worship and praise, pray, and listen to a lesson from the Bible. We earn tokens to be able to choose a prize from the prize box. Tokens are earned for learning memory verses, bringing our bibles, winning group games, bringing friends, giving a lesson, actively participating in the lesson, and keeping the rules. Whoever has the most tokens at the end of the month gets a special prize. After worship, the lesson, and prayer we play games and hang out together. We enjoy eating snacks as we visit and play together. Each month we have a special event night. There will be different events taking place each time. Examples of the specail nights are a pizza party, Karaoke night, movie night, and others yet to be thought of! We have A LOT of fun together!

Smile Train

On the Second Sunday of each month we offer up the opportunity for you to give from your heart.  Smile Train is the world's largest organization that helps children with cleft lips and palates.
It cost as little as $250.00 to give a desperate child a new smile and a new life.

If you care to donate other than during service on the second Sunday, please call the church (601) 772-9272 or email ballardvogel@gmail.com and put smile train in the subject line.
